  23. many options to consider. StuffIt Deluxe 
  24. was used in best compression mode with 
  25. automatic virus detection and encryption 
  26. turned off. Compactor has no such 
  27. options.

  29. As the table makes clear, under these 
  30. conditions, there is little to chose from in 
  31. these two packages in terms of 
  32. compaction ability. Just as an extra 
  33. exercise, I also compressed all these files 
  34. with StuffIt Deluxe set for fastest 
  35. compression and tabulated those results 
  36. as well. It was noticeably faster 
  37. compressing, but a great deal of 
  38. efficiency of compression was lost.
